  • You will need o High School diploma or equivalent required. Additional training in Basic Electricity desirable.o Should be able to successfully complete appropriate technical schools in order to perform position requirements.o Electrical Lineman Certification through an approved apprenticeship program preferred.o Five years of electrical distribution experience through direct line or service work required.o Working Knowledge of computers required, including Microsoft Office suite.o A thorough knowledge of both overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution lines is preferred.o Must have an understanding of the National Electric Safety Code, and OSHA Rules and Regulations.o Must have the ability to become thoroughly familiar with the Cooperative's policies and procedures on service and collections, RUS Construction Specifications and the Cooperative Safety Manual.o Must be certified or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.o Must have or be able to obtain pole climbing, pole top rescue and bucket rescue certifications.o Must have the ability to do switching in sub-stations in accordance with prescribed procedures.o Must be able to identify and solve service problems.o Must be able to organize work to meet deadlines.o Must be able to work independently under pressure.o Must have good oral and written communication skills in order to resolve member complaints.o Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words in order to convey detailed instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.o Must assure the availability of high quality electric service in unlimited quantity to all memberso Must develop and maintain a high level of productivity, morale and safe working practices among employees of LREMC.o Must maintain friendly, cooperative relationships with members and the general public in the performance of duties and responsibilities by presenting a favorable image of LREMC, its employees and programs at all times.o Must have the ability to understand and execute the instructions of the LRMC Safety Manual and utilize safety and protective equipment as required.o A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License is required.o Understands considerable hazards that exist, including falls, electric shock, electric flash, automobile traffic and falling objects.Working Conditions / Physical & Emotional Demands:o The activities of this position require frequent standing, walking for distances exceeding two miles, stooping, reaching and grasping depending on the task being accomplished over the course of a day.o Position also requires kneeling, twisting and crawling.o Must possess the ability to climb structures and equipment in excess of 10 feet in height for the purpose of inspection, repair and evaluation.o Must possess visual acuity and physical dexterity and efficient coordination are required for the operation of machinery involved with the duties of the position.o The position may require lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling weights in excess of 50 lbs. with assistance.o Must possess the ability to listen and communicate orally and in writing.o The duties of the position are primarily performed outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.o On an average day, the employee will be standing 80% of the time, walking 10% of the time, and sitting 10% of the time.o There will be continuous need for meeting deadlines in this position.o Occasionally there may be irate customers and may have to take complaints from both internal and external customers.o The individual is expected to work extended and/or irregular hours if necessary as assigned.o Must be available on an on-call basis to perform functions of various construction and maintenance responsibilities and must reside within fifty (50) miles of their assigned duty station.o Must be physically able to perform the duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.o The responsibilities, duties, tasks, and reporting relationships may change from time to time either temporarily or ongoing based on the needs of the employer.   • DescriptionPrimary Role and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for (general summary): Assures the availability of high quality electric service in unlimited quantity to all members, performs all types of duties without direct supervision, involving construction and maintenance operations on LREMC's transmission and distribution lines and facilities, both underground and overhead, involving construction and maintenance operations in accordance with RUS specifications in a safe and efficient manner.Essential duties:o Installs and maintains underground equipment, cable and special underground switches.o Installs transformers, transformer banks, breakers, take-off assemblies, services, regulators, street lights and related equipment, meters, lightning arrester equipment, etc. on energized or de-energized lines.o Maintains and repairs switching structures and substations.o Maintains and tests oil circuit breakers, oil circuit reclosers, sectionalizers, and transformers; reads operations counters and forwards recorded information.o Patrols transmission and distribution lines, checks defective materials, equipment, or unsafe conditions and reports (in writing) conditions which may need maintenance.o Constructs C.T. and P.T. meter installations.o Tests and reports voltage condition and load checks, balance loads; takes load and voltage surveys as directed.o Locates and determines sources of power outages.o Frames and sets poles and anchors.o Makes up and installs down guys by stringing, sagging, installing armor rods, and tying in conductors.o Consults foreman and/or supervisor concerning problems which hinder the efficient completion of the duties and responsibilities of the position or job.o Trains, coaches and directs the work of apprentice power line technicians and other operations personnel as directed by the General Foreman.o Performs, as needed, all the duties of equipment operator.o Effectively and efficiently uses the GIS Mapping systems.o Ensures that trucks, tools and assigned equipment are properly used and kept in safe, operable fashion.o Advises assists and informs LREMC personnel on operational matters in order to effectively fulfill the duties and responsibilities of this position.o Reports to: General Foreman and keeps him/her informed concerning work in progress and completed.o All other duties as assigned.
